Clarity is a private financial assistant for one household. It is not a product, there are no other users, and nobody can sign up.
It reads the household's own financial paperwork — bank statements, bills, creditor letters, payslips — does the arithmetic on them, and writes back to the two people it works for by email. Its purpose is to keep one family on top of their money without either of them having to hold it all in their head.
Most of what a household needs to act on arrives by email: a bill, a returned direct debit, an arrears letter, a refund that never came. Clarity requests read-only access so it can see those as they arrive, rather than waiting to be told.
It requests exactly three scopes and no others:
gmail.readonly — to read incoming financial correspondenceuserinfo.email and openid — to confirm which mailbox was connected, so one member's mail is never filed under the otherIt cannot send, delete, modify or archive anything in a connected mailbox. The permission it holds does not allow it, and nothing in the software attempts it.
No data is sold, shared, or sent to any third party. Nothing is used for advertising or to train any model. Only the two members of the household, and no one else, ever receive anything Clarity writes.
